Holidays might end with a terrible midnight train of homework rushing for you guys but it ended for me in quite a meaningful way. I found the faith in Him back! Okay, haven't been blogging for two days because I had NCC Camp. Don't worry, I took lots of pictures as usual but sadly to say my handphone screen was scratched slightly by the rough gravel because I accidently slept on it in the tent (our tent was on the rough gravel you see, and the tent material was thin). Anyway, this Orienteering Camp was the first camp that my NCC batch planned. I had a bad start in the camp though, for my alarm clock failed to wake me up at 5.50am (was to report to Bukit Batok MRT at 7.00am!) and I woke up at 6.45am so I rushed there by taxi and during the trip I realised that I forgot to bring my boots to camp! Anyway thanks to the taxi driver I reached there at around 7.10am and soon we set off for a carpark nearby Bukit Batok Nature Reserve so that we can conduct warm up for the juniors.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Soon after all the stretching and briefing about the next activity which is the Orienteering Run (an activity that requires you to go from checkpoints to another) to the Bukit Batok Nature Reserve itself. My group had 4 malays and 1 chinese and my other partner who took charge of the platoon was Luqman. Our group was kind of weak in navigating but still they managed to be the second group that was there because I couldn't help but tipped them. Here are some pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() Upon reaching the park, I saw Gavin's pants and made a horrified expression. ![]() ![]() We waited at the park for Lemuel's group for like 30 minutes because they took the wrong way and this made everyone's stomach grumbled but luckily lunch arrived just in time to save them. As we are lovely in charges and we cannot bear to abuse this poor kids we gave them packed lunch for erm.. lunch. ![]() After the lunch that filled our whining tummies the Orienteering Runners of last year's competition gave a little theory lesson about orienteering while the logistic team of the camp prepare for the next Orienteering Run by placing ziploc bags in different areas of the park. ![]() Like after what seemed like an eternity, the logistic team finally finish preparing while we were almost breathless from our endless teaching that seems to repeat over and over again because we didn't have much things to teach. So after the same old briefing by our OIC Brian, the cadets went for their second Orienteering Run which now involves finding ziploc bags in the checkpoints itself. We were stucked at a stupid checkpoint for like around 30 minutes because the logistic team hid it too professionally but I did nothing to help except take pictures of interesting stuff HAHA. ![]() ![]() aAfter a long run around the Nature Reserve together with a few wrong turns and a few U-turns, my group finally made it back fourth at Pond Plaza, our campsite. Here are some pictures that were taken by my itchy hands which displays the magnificent beauty of the scenery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After having fun taking many pictures of the scenery which fascinated me, the camp in charge decided to have a debrief about the run and then send the cadets to pitch up their tent. ![]() ![]() And being kind of a slacker I am, I went to slack off with Kah Chee during the personal admin time and we found two different animals in the nature reserve. One being the popular monkey and the other some white headed bird. Went to the playground to play like some kids who took some dangerous chemical and grew up real fast. Ah, reminisce the times in my early childhood when I used to frequent my neigbourhood's playground to play catching or ice and water. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After lots of fun was the dinner and then we had scavenger hunt where the juniors have to find different items in order to rack up points for their group. One of the things was sanitary pad and they had to run to the War Memorial at the peak of the nature reserve where Kah Chee and Nikki was stationed there. For the weak hearted, please do not visit the nature reserve at night because they told us that they heard some woman laughter and weird noises when they were sitting on a bench and where a thick vegetation was behind them. This got me a little spooked as the night dawned and I felt a little uneasy because I knew what was the next activity later on. It was the Blind's Man Trail where we spook the cadet by bringing them up blindfolded to the War Memorial. Lots of pictures could not be taken because it was getting too dark to take a picture and we were busy scaring the cadets by doing ghosts actions which failed in the end (lol, feel like a failure). However, we were taken by a surprise by SPI's presence. For those that don't know what is SPI, it stands for Singapore Paranormal Investigations (they have their own website) and I bet they were kinda taken aback at the fact that we were there at such a hour. ![]() Moments later the cadets were brought back to the camp site and they were given dinner. They had cookies while we had extra packet dinner and they drank lemon barley while we drank other drinks that we bought from the vending machine (evil!). Soon my drowsiness got over and the long night passed. Wake up in the morning feeling very drowsy and could barely balance myself but soon I manage to perk myself up with a refreshing can of Nescafe's Mocha (after I brushed my teeth of course). We planned to have games for the cadets that morning but too bad the heavens wasn't on our side as it poured down and we waited under shelter trying our best to keep up their mood. Later, we finally decided not to waste time and then we got M'am to debrief and released the cadets after unpitching the tent (when the rain stopped). When we were getting home from the campsite, we saw many different things like the unicyclist and the three legged dog. Also receieved the "no more birds" joke on my handphone from Keng Lai (thanks!). More pictures coming up! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After I managed to rush home, did some chatting and transferring of music to my phone and then rushed out later to the Youth Alive Concert at my church. It was a really great concert and I liked Matt the Spanish guitar player the most because well first he's handsome and secondly he prayed for me! The songs weren't that good though because the drummer was blasting too hard my own ear drums almost burst but it still touched me (: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All right, that's it for today and tell you guys something encouraging: SCHOOL'S STARTS. HAHA! Have fun coping with school blues (: ![]()
